What Tony Robbins Taught Me 2

Lessons From Tony Robbins

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately as you probably know. A few months ago I came across a very interesting author. His name is Tony Robbins. Most likely you probably know who he is already (I’m a little delayed like that).

If you don’t, then I highly recommended you look him up then read his books. You will not be disappointed. Two of my favorites are ‘Unlimited Power’ and ‘Awaken the Giant Within.

Who is Tony Robbins?

  • Tony Robbins (born  February 29, 1960) is an American businessman, author, and philanthropist.
  • Robbins is the eldest of three children and his parents divorced when he was 7.
  • He wasn’t born into a rich family and his family struggled whilst he was growing up. While growing up, Robbins helped provide for his siblings by taking various jobs.
  • Robbins worked as a janitor, and did not attend college.
  • Without any educational background in psychology, Robbins began his own work as a personal development coach.
  • Robins went on to write 3 bestselling books. The New York Times stated that “they contain ways to take control of your emotional, physical and financial destiny.”
  • He now owns 31 successful companies, makes $30 million a year, he has his own ISLAND near Fiji and he travels in his own private intercontinental jet.
  • He has coached and helped some of the world’s most influential people including, Nelson Mandela, Princess Diana, Bill Clinton, Mother Teresa, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Clinton, Paul Tudor Jones, Serena Williams and Leonardo DiCaprio (to name a few, the list is huge, with extremely well known and high profile people).
  • Robbins founded the Anthony Robbins Foundation, a charity dedicated to empowering individuals and organizations. His foundation has products and programs in more than 2,000 schools, 700 prisons, and 100,000 health and human service organizations.
  • His charity organisation has fed millions of poor families across the world and they aim to feed 2 million this year alone!

I could go on for ages about Tony Robbins because what he has achieved in his life is absolutely amazing. He spends his time doing seminars and travelling the world teaching people how to master their health, wealth, emotions and ultimately their destiny.

His books are amazing and I recommend them to anyone who has a specific goal, or has any problem they want to overcome in their life.

Strange Going Ons…

After a month’s of immersing myself in Tony Robbins books and watching his YouTube video’s something strange happened to me. Out of the blue, I got a message from a friend of mine.

She had randomly bought me tickets to the 2016 National Achievers Congress as a gift; which is a weekend event held in the city of London. And guess who it was headed by? You guessed it, Tony Robbins! (If you’re reading this and you bought me the tickets, you know who you are, thank you again 🙂 ).

After all this time constantly immersed in the Tony Robbins vibe tickets to the National Achievers awards randomly fell into my lap totally unexpected. Due to my own personal experiences you may know that I’m a big believer in the power of thoughts and creative visualization, and that just cemented my belief even more.

Not only was Tony Robins heading it but JT Foxx, Eddie the Eagle, Jason Vale, Kevin Green were all attending and speaking on the same event.

On top of that I didn’t only have one ticket but I had two! So I got to take my wife along with me. Since I was travelling to London (which is about a 2 hour drive from my house) I decided to visit Madame Tussaud’s and arrive a day early.

Madame Tussaud’s is a weird and wonderful place. It was kinda strange being in there.  Call me a chicken shit, but the wax models in there were so realistic it was kinda freaky!

The Difference Between Robbins and Other Talkers

Robbins went through a whole lot of things about mastering your life whilst he was there. I’m surprised he managed toimg-20161025-wa0011 fit it all in. Every sentence he spoke was like a gold nugget of valuable information. I can see why he is so successful.

Everyone at the congress absolutely loved him. He was the type of guy that genuinely wanted to help people. And it showed.

It wasn’t only obvious from how much he gives back to the world through his charities and his talks, but you could really sense it as soon as he started speaking.

Robbins literally radiates energy and I could feel it when he stood beside me and was talking. He didnt try to sell anything like most of the other talkers, he literally came in and delivered a huge amount of value to everyone there.

He was so admirable that my wife turned around a said to me, “This guy should run for president.” Not a bad idea in my opinion!

What Robbins Taught

“Success is 80% psychological and only 20% mechanical.”

Robbins explained that success is only 20% mechanical (application) and 80% MENTAL. And you can guess that he knows what he’s talking about as he has over 31 successful companies, a net worth of over $400 million and he spends most of his time coaching and being around multi-billionaires.

He went on to explain about how peoples thoughts can block them from achieving success.

“Only the Thoughts You Believe Can Hurt You.”

Some people believe thoughts that they have been told throughout their lives. This stops them from achieving because it builds fear. Fear that they are not good enough, clever enough or unable.

They believe success at something is impossible for them. These are the types of thoughts that stop you from trying things that you want to do and ultimately defeat you.

“Don’t serve the mind, make the mind serve you.”

Tony explained that he had learned to develop his thoughts to serve him. Through closely monitoring his thoughts and being aware of them, he was able to kill off any limiting beliefs that arouse in his mind. He concentrated on empowering thoughts and thoughts that would serve him and his aspirations.

The Science of Achievement

These were the keys notes I took and some quotes from Robbins when he explained the science of achievement.

1) “Success Leaves Clues.”

Model someone that has achieved what you want to achieve. The way I think about the above quote is like walking through an over grown jungle.

It would be a lot harder to cut your way through all the bushes and tree’s than to follow a worn down path that has already been made by others who have traveled the journey you are about to take.

2) “Emotion is Motion.”

Robbins said that the body is one of the most effective tools to tap into our life energy, clear thoughts and emotions. Most people are lacking that vitality. The more we move or workout the more our energy levels increase and our emotions and thoughts serve us instead of inslave us.

When you workout you may have had people say to you things like you look great, glowing, full of energy, radiant etc.. This is your inside state reflecting itself outside. This is the state where you have power.

The problem is most people walk around so tired and dull. They greet each other in a low tone of voice and their body language shows the lack of vital energy. There’s no way you can develop passion for anything in that state including your goals.

When you speak to people and walk around, you must add vitality into your body, express yourself and bring your energy levels to the peak every day. I know this to be true because all 6 of the speakers that day displayed this quality and vitality.

They were all extremely successful achievers and the best in their field of work. A thing to note is that Robbins also explained that a lack of energy can also come from internal conflicts of thoughts.

When you master your energy and bring passion every day, you will find strange and wonderful things happening for you. In this day and age most of us lack energy. It’s due to the fact that we don’t use the gift we were given as much as we should which is our bodies.

Some of us sit down most of the day at work, we sit down when we drive, we sit for hours watching TV or we sit in front of a computer. When we shut off our bodies we also shut off our mind, aspirations, passion and vitality. And when we do that we cut off our vital energy and life force.

3) “Develop hunger, a burning desire for your goal.”

Robbins explained that the problem with most people is that they are too comfortable. They might not like where they are at, but they are comfortable. Being comfortable is a willpower killer. You have to become obsessed about your goals and aspirations. This gives you absolute power and commitment.

4) “Take massive action.”

Robbins talked about taking action. When you decide on your aspirations and master your mentality towards them you have to take action. No matter what it is, even if you are unsure what to do just START. You will develop momentum and when opportunities arise (which they will) that will help you on your journey make sure you recognize them and take them. Even if your path changes.

Robbins’s stated, “you must take action now and adjust your plans on the way. Keep changing until you find what works.”

“Complexity is the enemy of execution.”

Just simply start, don’t procrastinate. People always find reason not to start something. Everyone has them excuses and 100 others.

What you need to do is find the reason TO start something. Fear, worry or excuses can’t get in your way once you have developed the right mindset. So it is important to master that first.

The Art of Fulfillment

“You have to constantly keep growing.”

Keep growing, spiritually, mentally, in business, in relationships and in everything. Never stop growing.

Always keep learning from others, yourself, books and life. No one ever knows everything and the more you learn the better you become.

“Results don’t bring you happiness; the progress you make brings you happiness.”

Some people think that if they get a certain amount of money, or they get a certain car etc they will be happy. Robbins knows a lot of millionaires that are not happy. I guess that’s why they hire him.

Money or wealth can only give you options. It can’t bring you happiness. You need to find happiness now and not wait for some outside material object to arrive before you are happy.

“Your brain is designed to project fear and worry.”

Your brain is designed through 200,000 years of evolution to always project worry, fear, danger and bad things. This is because it is built for SURVIVAL.

However we don’t have to worry about getting eaten by other animals or a person from another tribe clonking you around the head with a club and stealing your wife like the cavemen did.

The problem is our brains still have this built in mechanism (which is good to some degree). Now our brain looks for fear, worry and negative emotions in our everyday lives when most of the time it is not needed or necessary.

You have to override your brain. And how can you do that I hear you ask? Well Robbins said you do this by looking for the beauty in everything and in your everyday normal life, even when things go wrong.

Try not to look at things from a negative angle, even when they are going horribly wrong. There is always 2 sides to every coin and something good always comes with something bad. Your job is to try and find it and focus on that good part.

“Where focus goes your energy flows.”

What you concentrate on is where your energy will flow. You shouldn’t work on (and think about) your goals for just 10 min a day and spend the rest of your day stressing and thinking about all your problems and the negative things in your life. That means the majority of your focus is on the negative side.

Learn to change your mind set to;

“Life happens for me and not too me.”

Keeping all the points above in mind, learn to appreciate and see only beauty around you even if it doesn’t look that way to start; the quicker your mentality will change for the better.

How to change your state

Here’s how Robbins explained how to change your state;

  • Decide you are going to from now on. Make that a commitment.
  • Measure your energy and positivity everyday from a scale of 1-10 and vow to yourself to never drop below 8 on that scale.
  • Staying in a high state of mind is very important to achieving success in all areas of life, and it also trains your nervous system (Manly P. Hall said in one of his lectures that the nervous system is an extension of your mind).

Robbins told everyone to make the decision that from now they will;

  • Live in a beautiful state everyday no matter what happens.
  • Raise their energy levels and bring passion and vitality into their life every day.
  • And to stay in a happy state of mind.

Make that decision to raise your energy and state of mind. Make it a priority to release the flow of your natural energy source every day.

This is key trait that all of the speakers had in common and one that Robbins attributes as the most important for success in anything.

So, there are some of the key notes I got from Tony Robins at the National Achievers Awards. There were some other brilliant speakers there that also shared valuable information which I will write about in the coming posts.

I hope you enjoyed the post and learned something new. I recommend you give it a try; it can’t hurt to have more mental clarity, a sharper mind, be more energetic and be happier can it now?
